Perhaps there are specific architectural considerations on your home that should be incorporated into the conservatory design for example gables, hipped roofs,

Window design such as gothic arches or leaded patterns and coloured lights. The choice of material for your conservatory must then be decided upon would you like upvc or wood this will also be a main consideration to keep within your budget as you can imagine upvc would be cheaper than Traditional.  

For a  more traditional look a quality Traditional Conservatory is the option to go for. The companies that offer this may be more expensive but as with all things you get what you pay for and for that little extra spent now benefits could well be reaped in the future. 

Once the materials are chosen you can then look at the interaction of your choices and the prevailing weather conditions that your Traditional Conservatory may have to deal with, if you are south facing you could have extreme heat to deal with, if north then the opposite can apply. With the latest developments in glass technology for your Traditional Conservatory these issues can easily be dealt with.  

Also with the opening on doorways you need to have them in the most beneficial places for access but you must keep in mind that you do not wish to create too many corridors through your Traditional Conservatory as these will have to be kept clear of any of your furnishing One other thing with doors is which way do you wish to go from the conservatory to the garden and which way would facilitate this in the most comfortable manner.

One of the most efficient forms of heating in Conservatories would be electric convector heaters as they can be installed floor mounted or wall mounted for a more permanent position, you could look at extending the house central heating but this will mean you will need to know how much spare capacity the boiler has and if its up to the requirements needed, in many cases its not and this can mean the added expense of a new boiler. There are the underfloor heating options but again if they are to be fed off the existing boiler you must check the boiler is up to the job. You could opt for electric under floor heating this is self contained and independently controlled.

Lighting can be as simple as a plug in side lamp or can be as complicated as you wish to go. Floor coverings can be ceramic floor tiles, linoleum or natural slate incorporating intricate details around the edge. The main consideration is that whatever option you decide on it needs to be hardwearing and practical and easily cleaned!
